Give a Kid a Camera

What happens when you go on a photowalk with a group of kids? Beautiful things.

During a delightful family weekend, I invited my kids and two nieces to join me for a photowalk. It was heartwarming to witness their eagerness to be part of the adventure, it reminded me of how we all once embraced art and creativity without hesitation, insecurity, or fear of failure.

The kids effortlessly grabbed cameras and began capturing moments. Reflecting on this, it became apparent how, as we grow older, we often become our own obstacles—second-guessing, worrying about others' opinions, and overlooking the beauty right in front of us.

While on our walk, the kids were the primary photographers, and I occasionally joined in, loving every moment. Reviewing and developing the photos later was a wonderful experience. The images below showcase selections for my niece Abby, my son Roman, and myself. This format is something I'll undoubtedly return to. There are more photowalks with kids in my future!

While on our walk I recorded some audio and I shared it with Neale at The Photowalk podcast.

He was kind enough to feature it in the beginning this episode! Give it a listen.
